Bernadine Alting is an acclaimed potter and teacher. Her unstoppable energy has been a core part of the ongoing success of Lilydale Arts and evidence of her work can be seen everywhere in Lilydale. She exhibits widely.

Born in Holland Bernadine moved to Tasmania and here discovered her love and ability for pottery. She studied in Launceston and then became a teacher at Inveresk.

The summary above is remarably inadequate for an artist who has given much to the community. With her husband, Peter Alting, she was instrumental in making many amazing things happen in Lilydale, including the defining mural outside the Old Library and the beautiful pavers in the same area. She has been a stalwart in the Lilydale Players, taking on a variety of roles especially in the annual Christmas pantomime.

Bernadine has been the driver of the major Lilydale Arts Project, the mural painted poles, which has taken over 14 months of working in all weathers. Bernadine coordinated the designs, artists, schedules and material to make this huge undertaking happen with great smoothness and enjoyment. Bernadine's pottery is exhibited in many leading galleries in Tasmania and interstate. She was a finalist in the 2011 Tasmanian Design Awards for her beautiful mugs shown below and in the banner to this page.
